Mine was free fed when I got her. I didnt want that so I started feeding 2x a day with some snacks in the middle of the day. I found tht my girl, as probably most dogs is driven to eat by scent. If I just put her dry kibble down she wouldnt touch it either (I smelled it, cant say I blame her) So I started boiling a bone in chicken breast once a week, cooling it, skimming off the fat and storing it in ice cube trays. I shred the chicken and put in a bag for treats or put on top of her food occasionally. Anyway, I melt the cube over her food *( i mix 2/3 oz of water in as she has developed an aversion to drinking water out of a bowl)
All she has to do is smell that broth and she inhales it! I dont know how big our yorkie is but at 6 lbs mine eats half a cup a day, 1/4 morning 1/4 night. A cup is alot.. |
