Love Meet Mocha, Female ~1 Year

Hi everyone, a little background on my Mocha... The end of 2011 my fiance and I knew we wanted to get a puppy and we wanted it to be in the toy category, and we decided we wanted a Yorkie! We both come from families with dogs (mine Chocolate labs and his more of a Begel mix). We live in Mexico, but we were planning on returning to the USA so we knew our option was to stick with a small dog that would fit on the airplane when we returned. We searched and searched for breeders in Mexico but with no luck for any around our area. Our last resort was a pet store (please don't judge ) Well we got to the store and they didn't have any Yorkishire Terriers, but said they could order one for us. I hated the idea because we weren't able to choose from a litter or anything. We were basically getting what they wanted to give us. We decided to go along with it... then in April 2012 we met Mocha. Mocha was the cutest puppy ever! I fell in love with her at first sight. I knew she was meant for our family so we took her home. I was able to purchase the pedigree, but for an extra cost so we decided we didn't want to do it. She looked like 100% Yorkie, and we didn't feel any different. (view pictures of her as a puppy below).

So as Mocha grew we started to notice her hair wasn't becoming long and lush like the normal pictured Yorkies. I didn't realize before picking a yorkie that there are actually silky and cottony (although they are still a yorkie). We were expecting a puppy that would turn into a long haired to the ground type of dog, but this wasn't Mocha. Now about 1 year later her hair is wavy, gets matted, and seems frizzy. Her ears never stood up either, but I still love my Mocha. They are just too cute to resist as puppies!
