I haven't had to deal with that particular issue with Princess Sophie however we also have a mini Schnauzer who has had to have teeth removed. Both our Schnauzers did just fine, came through their dentals and we didn't have to change their food (they always ate dry food).
Now I know that yorkie pups are different and I have heard on this site that anytime a yorkie goes under anesthesia it's tricky. Even so, I'm sure there will be others that have gone through this experience with their yorkies that can offer you good advice.
