Aside from big dogs running into your yard, big people and little people do also. I am convinced I stop and sped dog thieves from coming through the boat gate and taking Tibbe when I'd had him only a few months. He was out in his yard on a cold day and I was watching from inside the house where it was warmer, this car that had been up and down the alley two or three times slowly just suddenly stopped and a grown man and woman got out each of the back and started for the gate, the man heading directly to the gate handle. I came running through the back door, across the porch and into the yard, shouting and they stopped, turned, hustled back into the car and the driver sped off up the alley! I think they were attempting to steal Tibbe. So even with a fence, you have to watch them constantly while they are outside to be safe.
