I want to see the dog in person, I am not new to owning a yorkie I had one for fourteen years until she passed away I currently have a female peke and four cats, So if anybody out there is from the rochester, syracuse, or albany area and has a dog for me please let me know.
I agree with Verbena go to the YTCA website, let them know you'd be willing to offer a great home to retired breeder. Also, sometimes they hold a puppy back for show thinking it will add to their breeding program, but later change their mind. This dogs are some of the best deals out there, they are almost perfect physically, and the price is lower because they are older. For some odd reason people will pay for more a puppy! The older dogs often have more training and are perfect pets. Breeders who breed for the betterment of the breed are not looking to make a profit from their dogs, since they show, which is really expensive, they are lucky to just break even. Breeders who breed for profit, often charge way more than YTCA breeders and they do no health testing. Remember, luxating patella surgery for one leg can cost $1600, so buying a bargain pup is no bargain. Yorkies are an expensive breed to own, even if they are healthy and may not be the best choice for someone on a strict budget, so keep that in mind when choosing a pet. Dental care, grooming, and needing imediate medical care should they get sick, are some of the reasons yorkies are more expensive.
