Harley's adorable! Although I hope all pet owners choose breeders who breed to standard, a pet is a pet and it's not important if it doesn't look like standard. Standard is just a recipe for what the ideal yorkie is "supposed" to look like, since no dog is perfect, good breeders try to breed for a dog that is in this standard range. This will ensure that the Yorkie is still recognizable a hundred years from now, we are preserving the breed by doing this. Pet owners have loving companions, so I wouldn't worry about this. If however, you ever want a dog who fits more into the standard range, I suggest that you find a breeder who breeds to standard and at the very least should KNOW what standard is, unfortunately many breeders have no idea, they just breed their pets. You can drastically change the looks of a dog in just a few generations, and they can still be “purebred.”
