Go to an orthopedic surgeon to get a better opinion. My Zada had a grade 4 without limping and the regular Vet. said she needed surgery, so I agreed. He did both knees. Big mistake. He didn't even deepen the shallow grooves the caps sits on and she ended up needing surgery on one knee because she was limping. I took her to the orthopedic vet. for her second surgery, and he said she should have not had the first operation unless she was limping. He checked my second Yorkie and found she also has a grade 4, but didn't need surgery. Then 3 years later she tore a ligament and had surgery on it. She's 8 years old and maybe never need LP surgery, but we are watchful!
Good luck with your baby.
