I'm no expert, but if I were you I'd get a second opinion from another vet. And before doing surgery, I'd get the opinion of a board certified surgeon for sure.

My 3 year old has had Grade 1 LP since she was a pup, and it hasn't slowed her down at all. My vets have all told me not to worry about it now and that it may never be a problem.

But again, I'm no expert.
