Welcome. Cali is almost 8 and has had grade 4 lp in both knees for many years. She does very well so far with it. She has a mild liver condition so my vet doesn't like to put her under unless absolutely necessary. Then my Pixie, 7, a few years ago walked off my bed and aggravated her LP. SHe had grade 3 in one knee and grade 2 in the other. After several opinions and one from the orthopedist I decided to have the surgery. She was having a difficult time with her knee. She did very good with it. I wouldn't rush into surgery if it was me without a second opinion from a board certified orthopedist. My vet said she has seen dogs live to 14 with grade 4 and never need surgery. This is just my experience with it. I am glad you are looking into it before making a decision especially since he had problems after his neuter. Keep us posted.
