Default Bahamas Travel Experience?

Remy and I are headed to the Bahamas (specifically the Abacos) in a few months. I already have his import permit from the Bahamian Dept of Agriculture and he will obviously have his USDA form and all of the requisite shots and corresponding paperwork.

Based on my research, the Bahamas pet requirements stipulate the pet must be seen by a licensed vet within 24 hours of arrival on the island.
Does anyone have any experience traveling to the Bahamas? Is this requirement of a vet visit strictly enforced?

This vet visit requirement is problematic for me as there are no licensed vets on the specific island I will be visiting - it will require me to get to Marsh Harbor or worse Nassau to find a vet. It seems like a seriously inconvenient and pointless requirement.

Remy has traveled internationally with me on several occasions however we have never visited the Bahamas together. Any input on Bahamian pet travel would be appreciated!
