Hi Angie and a big YorkieTalk welcome to you and Daisy Mae! You've gotten some great advice so far. The key is getting her excited to learn -- fine ONE thing to start with and have "high value" treats handy. Teaching the "come" command is a very important one. You can do it throughout the day - make a game of it. Once she gets the idea that when you say "Daisy Mae COME" and she gets a greet for coming to her you will be on your way.
Yorkies are very intelligent and very independent. They were originally bred to hunt rats and other small vermin. It doesn't take human intervention to run down a rat hole - it takes independence and bravery - which Yorkies have more than their fair share.
