There's this Chinese duck egg thing called Thousand Year Old Egg. It's soaked in tea and lye and it's somehow semi solid. The "white" is clear yet dark like an obsidian stone and texture like firm jello, the yolk is creamy soft and differing colors of gray. It sounds gross, and even Andrew Zimmern couldn't get a bite down when he traveled to HK, but I love it! I've eaten it since I was a kid, and it's usually served in "juk" (congee/rice porridge) with ground pork, ginger, scallions, sesame oil, and soy sauce.

But I love it plain with just a bit of salt.
