How about overcooked pasta - I was probably 14 years old and my oldest brother came home from college with his friend (whom I was secretly crushing on) and mom was working - she started dinner and asked me to finish - she had the sauce in the crockpot and all I needed to do was cook the pasta and add to the sauce. Needless to say, I got sidetracked doing something and the pasta cooked for about 15 minutes or twice as long as it should have cooked - I just went ahead and added it to the sauce - it was the most "gummy-like" pasta I've ever had. Have never over cooked my pasta since that day.
