Rain ***It Was A Dark and Rainy Night....And In The Nearby Woods, Stood A Rapist...***

......a rapist wearing dark clothes, a ski mask, bearing a gun or knife, rope or tape, condom. And he only attacked women who lived near wooded areas, only on nights it rained and often with family in the house. He raped daughters in front of their mothers, vice-versa, pregnant women and left little or no DNA as he wore a condom and had his victims shower after the crime. Many of the rapes involved brutal beatings. And all in Nashville and over a span of 14 years. He was like a ghost, coming and going, leaving hardly any trace he'd been there except for his victim and seemingly careful to keep his brutal rapes to a couple every year or so, then retreating into the shadows again. Police have little in the way of a physical description except that he is big, they really have no leads, can't catch him and all of his victims live in terror he will return and they each suspect almost every man they are around. And he keeps showing back up to attack again in the rain and always after dark in the black ski mask. One woman awakens very late at night, it's dark and raining and she sits up and looks out the window beside her full into the masked face of a man who growls at her!

Such is just part of the spine-chilling story that just creeps me out on the NBC show Dateline, narrated by Keith Morrison, that is on TV right now. The episode that covers this crime story is called "Through The Pouring Rain" and if you are ever alone in the house one night and it's late and you see this old TV show on your NBC, MSNBC, OWN or other network, you must watch it if you love for the hair to stand up on the back of your neck. But soon you will be quietly hurrying to turn on all the house lights and wish your husband was home and your dog had teeth 3 inches long. I guess it is the creepy music, the shots of night rain on menacing, wooded areas with eerie Blair Witch Project lighting effects, the shots of rain coming down on quiet, sleepy neighborhood streets, lights out in the dark houses, no activity or sounds anywhere but the constant rain, the quiet, almost hushed voice of Keith Morrison, the haunted eyes of the terrified victims describing it all, the chilling way the piece is put together and sequenced, the artful editing......I don't know what makes this one of the scariest things I've seen. No gore or blood or things like that. Just my imagination and the horror of the night, the rain and the unknown. I'll sleep with one eye open tonight.

Here is a link to a story about the show. But you must put it in your Search and Autorecord it when it next comes on. It is listed as a "News program. Series" by Direct TV if you need a show category/genre.
