We are talking animals here. They breed by instinct. If we put a male and female together and she is in heat, most likely they will breed. Human decision and choice create the match. It then is human responsibility to care for the pups from this unnatural selection.
I could not kill puppies that were born defective because I chose to risk breeding two dogs that should never be bred together ! How insane is that.
Even though I have a great respect for animal instinct. When a mother rejects a certain puppy, it is very hard to just let it be. I know I have bottle fed pups and sometimes it turned out ok. But, most of the time the puppy dies, mother dog sensed something was not right. But like Yorkiemom1 I just have to do something ! It was my actions that brought this little being into the world.
I will never be the one to get into the genetic defect argument, bc I'd just end up looking like a fool . But, I think there is some debate around the genetic defect stance, as there always has been.

I'm glad to read you help the pups that Momma rejects and that you take such responsibility for your actions - that's exactly what I like to read about breeders . It shows a lot about your core beliefs.
