2 Year Old Yorkie's Right Hind Leg not moving! Hey everyone. First of want to introduce myself. My name is Robert, I have a 2 year old 3 lbs. yorkie that is the love of my life. I have browsed these forums since Kenny was born 2 years ago, but never have posted/registered.
So on Saturday, we took Kenny for a haircut. This was a new grooming place we were not familiar with. When we picked him up, the groomers were telling me how hyper he was and how he was hard to groom. Everything seemed okay, but Kenny was acting a little slow/lazy. So that evening he was fine, but kept licking his right hind leg like something was wrong with it. The next morning he was running around like normal, and then he went to take a nap. When he woke up from his nap, his leg wasn't moving, and just dragging. It was heartbreaking to see him like this. We immediately ran to the Animal Hospital and they took Xrays, and the doctor noticed some blood on his paw, probably from cutting him or his nails at the grooming place. There was nothing wrong with his spine, and his joints were perfectly fine. He gave him a shot, and prescribed some antibiotics and sent us on the way. 2 days later, his leg is still not functional.
It is at the fully extended position. When I massage his leg and joints lightly, I can get it to contract, but essentially it is still not moving on his own.
We have kept him in a crate ever since to try to get him rest and try to ensure he is not staying on that leg.
Anyone else experience this? What should I do? Any suggestions/experiences would be wonderful. |
