Ran into something like this sort of trouble with the foster dog I have now. I bought a long thick log type rawhide for my Lilly who can't chew that up, usually just teethes on them and as they start deteriorating I throw them away.
Foster dog somehow got it when I wasn't looking and ate the entire thing in a few hours. She now is having trouble pooping anything but diarrhea the past day and has blood streaks in it. The humane society said to just watch her and it should get better in a few days. If not, I'm to bring them a stool sample to be sure it's not something else. They don't want to medicate her unless necessary since she has the 9 nursing babies.
