Dont you just love that cut on a cotton coat. I do the same cut on Ruby and I love it. My daughter calls her "Snorkers"
because its a modified Schnozer cut.

Out of my four Ruby is our only cotton coat and is the only one who has remained black. So there may be something to that . . . idk
