I feed based upon body condition, not weight. When you feel their body, their ribs should not be prominent. They body should have a certain 'curve' to it, from the rib area down to the waist/hips.
Yes, a puppy could gain a pound in a week and it can be normal for that pup. Some weeks, they may gain very little, some weeks they gain more. It's not something that's the same for all puppies. So no, it's not a problem if they gain a pound in a week. Over feeding right now is NOT going to cause any probs down the road unless he is overweight right now and continues to be. Puppies are almost never truly overweight. It is fine and can be beneficial if your puppy carries a little extra (just like human babies do). Given your various descriptions of him, he does not sound overweight at all.
I'm attaching body condition pictures so you'll know how to judge a body by feel, rather than by a number (which can mean very little since yorkies can have different builds).
