Here are a couple other things to try. Sometimes taking the little dog to the end of the sidewalk leading to the porch and walking him to the house will get them going better. They see the porch and front door and some will walk forward to get to the protection of home if they are anxious outside. Also, if you sit about 6 feet away for your little guy on the sidewalk and hold a treat or a squeaky toy or a ball bouncing on the sidewalk and give a gentle tug on the leash, the little one will walk forward to get it. Some people use a cat stick with a feather on the end with honey, dogfood or peanut butter smeared on the feather to dangle in front of the puppy's nose. You can use regular pieces of cloth dangling from the end in place of the feather.
