Oh yes, my DH is a "manly man" too and small dogs, such as Yorkies, are "Muskie bait" to him. I brought Blazer home without his approval. In fact, he strictly forbid it but I did it anyway (I mean really, how could I pass up on a free Yorkie that was a thank you gift?) So, DH wanted NOTHING to do with Blazer and ignored him for a few weeks and always had snide comments for me about how I babied him. I gradually coerced DH into paying attention to Blazer by acting like I didn't know how to train him properly. DH wanted things "done right" so would step in. Also, Blazer and Buddy would play and it was (and is) SOOOO hilarious to watch that you couldn't help but smile. Blazer gradually worked his way into DH's heart and now whenever DH is home (usually only on weekends, he works out of town) they are inseperable. I knew that I'd "won" when DH started telling everyone about how great Blazer is. =D
