If you don't have Nutrical, you can use white Karo.

For the hair by his eyes, if you don't plan to trim, you can use a tiny bit of Vaseline under his eye to keep the hair down. Use a fresh jar devoted to this purpose only and dab a qtip in it instead of fingers. It isn't pretty, but it helped me with Max when his hair was growing out. I also used a tiny flea comb with the tines spaced closely together to comb the hair down at the corners of the eyes and train it to lie down.
