I think Frontline and Advantage (Advantix ?) do the same thing and you don't want to double up on them. I would clarify that with your vet.
I am in my early 40s and met my first flea last year. Eeek! Luckily we did not get infested, but I took every precaution vacuuming my entire house (under furniture) and the car every single day. I combed my boys carefully from head to toe at least once a day and checked them before we came in from walks. I also washed bedding and everything that could be washed almost every day.
I hate using Frontline, but I started using it when I saw a couple of fleas.
You can use regular dog shampoo and really soap up your pup to kill fleas. People often recommend Dawn dish soap, but I think the regular shampoo works and is less harsh, obviously.
