Hello, well I have a Chihuahua cross Yorkshire Terrier called Poppy. She's a year old and I've never had her clipped, I just bath her and brush her, but lately, although her hair isn't that long, it looks so wild along her back! It sticks up! I don't know if she would need stripping, as she feels a bit wirey, but underneath is very soft, so maybe she'd need clipping. She just looks a bit silly at the moment if I'm honest with her funny fur!
