Default George is very sick with pancreatitis....

My sweet boy, George, is at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists with a diagnosis of pancreatitis. I had come home yesterday from visiting my foster Sunny D up there and found George sick and vomiting. I took him to my vet and they felt it was probably early pancreatitis....labs normal except for elevated lipase. They gave him subcutaneous fluids with reglan...and an injection of cerenia. Late last night as I was reading in bed with George lying next to me, he had some mild tremors which I thought were because it was chilly in the house. I covered him up. Around midnight I looked at him and he did not appear to be breathing...I picked him up and he was limp as a dishrag. I was terrified thinking he had just passed. He started to come around and I quickly dressed and ran to the EC with him. By the time I got there he was a bit better and they told me it was going to be quite a wait to be seen. I decided to leave and go home and made a decision that I would go to GCVS if anything changed. He was ok all night. This morning we all got up and went outside....George was just not himself and did not void or show any interest in water or food. I had plans to be at GCVS early for Sunny D ... the specialist called me at 7:30 AM about him and I mentioned George and asked if I could bring him along which of course he said yes to. Thank God I did that. He was admitted to ICU with a presumptive diagnosis of pancreatitis based on my report of his symptoms...and a work up was ordered including an abdominal ultrasound. His pancreas is very inflammed and they feel there could be a mass at the tip...but there is no way to figure that out right now. He also had fluids in his chest and abdomen. His chances now are about 50/50. I really don't want them to do anything too invasive as George is very old and also has collapsing trachea....for tonight they are going to give him some plasma and keeping a close eye on him. He is of course on IVs and pain meds. They will call me with ANY change. My George is very old....I always say 12 but he could easily be 15..even 17. He is blind and deaf. It bothers me that he is in that strange place....I told them with any change for the worse I must be there for him. If he leaves, he must be in my arms. I hope I can have that for him....it will kill me if he goes to the Bridge alone. I so hate these things. You can't just let them suffer...and I don't believe in not trying at all if it is a basically healthy and happy pup. Please pray for my baby.

I hope this is also a reminder to people not to mess with vomiting. I see people post that their dog has vomited for 2 or 3 days. Look at this...he only vomited one day....3 times and was sicker than sick!!! Please know that this is a serious illness......
