That is so *great* you have a vet who gets it ! Vets who are conservative about vax always impress me...bc for me, it's indicative of some important philosophies (specific and general). There was some info about dental correlation posted here some years back, and I wish I'd bookmarked it. I can't recall if the info was from journal (ie, peer rvwd) or not.

But, the main gist was that there is an extreme correlation btwn the huge increase in dental issues in dogs -and- the advent of when we began to vaccinate the heck out of our dogs. The postulation was that since overvaccination can overwhelm and deplete the immune system, that long term problems can more easily develop in dogs such as allergies (huge!...just look at any dog board these days), skin issues, dental issues, neuro problems...the list was/is very long -- even related an increase in epilepsy to possible overvax. All of these things would be hard to fully substantiate bc of all the variables like poor breeding, inbreeding, diet, heredity and blah blee -- but the correlation was strong enough to be pretty noteworthy.

For me personally, overvax causing long term issues in dogs/breeds/breeding-lines makes logical sense and physiological sense...so I do think there is something there. I especially think that overvax *had* to play a huge-gantic part in the extraordinary amount of allergies we now see in dogs.
