A cover was going to be my suggestion to but it will have to fit snug my Laddy has been a climber since he was 12 weeks old so I understand. Welcome to YT. I don't think he is to old for a crate and they make them where one side is for the pee pad and the other to sleep. We have always crated Laddy and Kyra at night.
