Within an hour of receiving her vaccines she started panting and scratching. Her little tummy was covered in red blotches and the inside of her ears were bright red. She was extra thirsty and super anxious too. As you can imagine, I was frightened. One advantage to having allergies myself is that I was able to monitor her based on my own knowledge of anaphylaxis shock syndrome. Plus, both my sons are firemen ~ that too helped to keep me calm.
So, I started her on children's liquid Benadryl, 3ml doses immediately. As a preventative I believe she should have already had a dose before the shots. Then I ended soaking her an oatmeal bath and thank goodness that seemed to really help a lot! In conclusion, we will be getting a titer test before any more vaccines are administered in the future. | Make sure you let your vet know about the reactions.
