Update on Sir Benji I took Sir Benji to the vet and the doctor that was there checked
his temperture and it was up just a bit that worried her. She then
stood him up and started feeling under his belly and around his
intestine and on the left side she pushed and he went to bite her
and she said you see that, there is something there. So she took
him and took some exrays and sure enough there was something
there she said as long as her thumb and as round. So we had to
take him back the next day which was Wednesday, Feb. 6th. for
surgery. We brought him back the next morning and they had to
put him on iv and some fluids. At 2 pm that evening they went in
and took out what was there. We went in that evening at 4 pm to
see how he was doing. We were not allowed to see him of course
because he was sleeping.
What they found was a wad of dog hair with something in it. He
must have gotten into our 18 year old daughters room where she
has her dog which sheds all the time and if it isn't swept up twice
a day it spreads. Well, when they went in they didn't want to cut
where the object was because the intestine had two small bruise
marks on it so they cut down a bit farther hopeing to pull it out
from there but it wouldn't budge so they had to cut where they
didn't want to cut which was where the bruising was and when
they cut it and took out this big piece of dog hair all matted
together with some kind of hard stuff in it they noticed that the
inside of the intestine where the stuff that was sticking up was
after rubbing against the intestine and making it red. So they got it
out and sewed the two parts that they had to cut open plus his
belly.
He had to stay at the clinic on Thursday and we went to pick him
up on Friday at 4:30 pm. He was so happy to see us and he lost a
few pounds. He is eatting the can food that they gave me to give
him a chicken nuggent size piece when ever he is hungry and he
is drinking his water when he is thristy. He has had a few pees
and two bowel movements. They were worried yesterday
because he didn't have a bowl movement but when we got him
home last night and I gave him some food and he went outside he
did his bowel movement. I was happy. He is on his way to
recovery. He has a cone on his head which he hates. But he is a
good boy, he takes his meds when he needs to.
He was at the clinic all night by himself from 9 pm to 8 am in the
dark that he was have cryied himself to sleep. Last night when he
was sleeping I would hear him have a bad dream and then he
would wake up and run and cuddle hard into my side. If he didn't
have the cone on his head he would have had his head wrapped
around mine. Poor little guy, first time alone at night in the dark in a
place he didn't know.
I am giving him all the love I got to give him. Now it is just time. ♥ |
