Happens with me and Jack but I always figured it was the bacteria in his mouth - since is canine and I am human.
I just wash it really good with antibacterial soap and goes away pretty quickly. One thing I have heard recently is our bodies change every 7 years or so - I never had allergies when I was young and developed them when I was in my 30's.
