My Mickey also gets what you are describing, little patches, scabby, pretty gross looking under the hair. His come up in different areas.

Mickey's are from allergies. The vet gives him some meds and they clear up.. I'm still not sure what he's allergic too, but they come and go..

I found he heals faster when I shave the area and treat it with the CllorHex 2X his vet gave us along with the medication.
