I'm no profession at these things but I would think that you are on the right track. I worry about Sophie eating this but just haven't seen it yet. I bet you are right and your vet will confirm this. If this truly is the case then it might be time to switch to the washable pads. I hope it's nothing serious and that it's an easy fix. Sending prayers for you both.
