Yes, it can be something not that bad.
What your vet was saying is albumin (a protein) in the blood binds to some calcium. If a dog is losing albumin, they automatically lose calcium too bc the two are bound together. So it is possible that this is not a low calcium problem, but a low albumin probem.
Liver issues are somewhat common in yorkies even if they are asymptomatic. A lot of times the liver values will go up though. At age nine I doubt there is a nassive congenital liver problem if pup has always had normal labs and no neurological symptoms.
