How heartbreaking!
The first time I talked to my breeder, I let her know that I have a toddler, and asked if she objected to them. I had already been turned down by SIX different rescues because of my daughter's age. She has a 2 year old grandson who she lets "help" socialize her bigger pups. The tinies she will not place with a family with kids under 8.
When I went to visit the puppies at 6 weeks, the entire family went.
At home, the only time the two of them are together is if I am right there. Sarah is not allowed to run in the house, pick Sam up, or pet him unless I am holding him. She can throw a toy for him or feed him treats. If I can't keep both eyes on them, Sam is in his pen and Sarah is with me. I still worry about something happening.
