I had outdoor lighting that was triggered by motion sensors, with alarms that went off inside the house, and a little feral kitty would set one off all the time, but was quite close to the sensor by jumping up on a nearby flat roof. However, my son has motion sensors throughout his home and a Dox/JRussell mix, and the alarm has never been triggered by the dog. I am certain there must be some kind of settings or type of sensors, or placement that allows your dog free roam of your home without 'law enforcement' sitting in your driveway daily.
