Most puppies cry at night if they are alone. They are used to sleeping in a nice warm group so it is difficult for them to transition to sleeping alone. Did you warm up your heating bag again for him? Having a heat source and a nice soft bed will help him to sleep longer. It is good that he is pottying when you take him out. They are little and their bladders don't hold a lot. That is one of the draw backs of a small dog.

Dogs are pack animals so he is going to want to be with you. It is normal for him to follow you around. You are now his new family and he looks to you for companionship as well as for all his other needs. The puppy stage is very demanding but it does not last forever. As he gets older it will get easier but he is always going to look to you as his companion and family member.
