I'm really sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how awful you must feel. The SPCA and other animal advocacy groups have been running ads on TV and other places about how the rate of thefts of small dogs has sky rocketed in the last few years. They advise people not to let their dogs out alone even in fenced yards and to think of getting extra security as the thieves even take them when they break into homes. I guess the resale value is pretty high even on adult dogs.
As others have said watch all the classified ads, even in other cities that are near you. They may wait a few weeks to try to sell her or just try in a nearby area. Since your little girl was only out for a short time the thief may have been hanging around waiting for an opportunity to grab the poor baby. Notify all the vets for a wide area of the theft so if something suspicious comes in they will know to check it out. You might want to put picture posters up at groomers and pet stores also. Don't give up it may take months but persistence may just get your little one back Many papers will let you put free lost and found ads in their classified section. I don't see why you could not put a stolen dog in that area. |
