Out of 26 sticks tested they found 3 with possible bacteria. The article does not state what companies had contamination.
They were talking about a dog consuming a 6" stick per day. Bully sticks are not supposed to be treats for dogs to eat. They are for chewing and people should buy them large enough that the dog does not consume as though it was food.
There seems to me some misleading information in the article. Bully sticks are less than 1% fat.
There are some bad companies out there producing bully sticks and other pet treats. I would rather pay more than buy a product that has not been processed properly.
Gracie is a 5lb dog. I buy her 12" sticks so that she actually chews and does not eat the stick as this article is talking about. He 12" stick lasts at least 2 weeks and neither she nor we have ever had problems with them. |
