I don't know any breeders in your area but I know some things a good breeder will do. They do genetic and health testing on the breeders, the don't allow the pups to go home until 12 weeks or older, they know the lines of there breeding dogs to know there is no big health issues in the lines, they wont breed females under 5 pounds, they don't keep there dogs in out buildings/they are raised inside with human interaction, they don't breed many different breeds, the don't have lots of litters of puppies at one time, they don't breed mixes, they have a health guarantee, a spay and neuter contract and they don't use the words teacup and micro. Also its very important to see the parents and where the pups are being raised. You never want to buy a puppy from some one who wants to meet you at like a walmart. The only good registry that means anything in the USA is AKC.
