Hold the ham! It can make your dog very sick.
I handfed Max until he was a year old. He performed a trick for almost every single kibble. Now he would happily gobble an entire bag of food if I let him.
Don't worry about the games becoming a lifelong habit. I would be more concerned about the tasty additions becoming the habit and making your dog sick.
