New to the forums, though I've been reading and lurking for a while now. LOL
I have always loved Yorkies ever since my mom's neighbor's little one ran over to us and flopped over on its back to show her/his belly to us one evening. Generally, they are very expensive and so I would look at Craigslist in my area every so often hoping to find one.
One evening right after Christmas, I saw an ad for free puppies, small breed, and the pictures showed 2 black and tan babies. I emailed the lady since I knew they wouldn't last long and low and behold they were half yorkie/half wirehaired terrier! I asked her to hold the one I would later call Lilly and I would be right there. I asked her how much and she told me FREE!!!
Lilly was a result of a lady that left her wirehaired terrier locked up in her kennel while she went to the hospital and ended up staying there for a month, during which time she had babies. This was a rescue group that had taken the puppies, though I use the term loosely. We have several "rescue groups" around town who really just are rescuers, but don't give any sort of vet care to the animals.
So I picked out Lilly and she said, since they were only 4 weeks old, they needed to stay with mom a little while longer but momma was not really wanting to feed them anymore so she wasn't sure how long she would keep them.
I went home..the following week, this lady emailed me and said everyone else had taken their puppy and I needed to get mine.

I inquired weren't they a bit young and I thought puppies didn't need to leave until at least 6 weeks and ideally 10 or 12 weeks. This lady didn't seem too concerned about my "jibber jabber" and just said she was eating and doing fine and needed to be gotten, so I decided Lilly was better off with me then and I went to get her.
Lilly has been quite the delight really. I have my bathroom set up to leave her in there with a baby gate up during the day. She has a small crate and blankets with toys and a bowl of her hard kibble, now that she's 8 weeks old, and two potty pads on the other side of the room. It's a small room but just perfect size for her and her things. I leave the radio playing while I'm at work.
She's on Blue Buffalo and used to only eat the soft kind when I first got her, but we've graduated up to hard kibble mostly with soft given twice a day.
Anyway, I could go on and on. LOL She, just the other day, figured out how to make it up the stairs...once..I think it wore her out..LOL I live in a townhouse so it's quite the climb to the top, but she made it up the first 4 just not thinking and running around following me, then I encouraged her up the rest. We're not trying to go down yet though. It scares me!
I tried to add pictures as attachments here, but I'm not sure it will work, so forgive me if it doesn't and I will try something else.
Thanks for having me and Lilly!!
