I had this same problem a few weeks ago. Diezel is just about 10 months. I have had him since 3 months old. He never missed the pad. I decided after 7 months to get an area rug. Well that lovely cream colored shag rug came up after 1 week. He just wasn't getting it. Not sure if it was to light of a color he thought it was a huge wee pad or the texture felt like grass. But haveing a kitchen/living room combo I needed something to seperate the room. Last weekend I was in Home Depot. I picked up a plain dark gray flat rug. Not soft at all. And he has not gone once. I don't know if he even knows its there or if I am just overloading with treats. Either way I think the texture might make a difference. I think to soft and comfy was getting Diezel to excited..lol Maybe try a small harder rug for training and then upgrade. The one I got was 19.99 and its 6x8.
