I'm trying a sample packet of Honest Kitchen's Force formula on bunjee right now. He loves it. It's got real chicken and vegetable chunks. It's grain free with human grade, natural ingredients.
What's holding me back in feeding this are:
1. price. the 4 lb bucket that yields 16-17lbs of food when hydated will probably last me about 45-60 days according to the feeding recommendations. meanwhile, a 6.6 lb bag of innova will last me about 45 days. that's $35 for 45 days worth of food vs. $10 for the same.
2. wet food vs. dry food. i would still prefer to keep bunjee on a dry food diet with wet food as treats. in the long run, i think that's better for his teeth.
3. in addition to the Honest Kitchen food, you're suppose to supplement with extra meat and other ingredients. that adds to the cost as well as adds to the amount of work for me for feeding (i'm a little lazy that way)
so, if cost is no object, you want to feed a raw diet, wet food is fine, and you have the time to include supplemental food in addition to honest kitchen, then i think honest kitchen is a great choice. |
