Sounds very normal to me as well. Yorkies were bread to be independent hunters/Varminteers, where when they were task to do a job, that no human intervention was necessary. Thusly comes stubbornness.

These issues of possessiveness are Pack related, and I would be surprised if my animals didn't want to be together, actually the nearer the better for them. Conflict usually occurs, when there isn't clear identifications made by the Pack Leader (you) as to a Pecking Order within the Pack. Few understand that there can be a Dog Alpha, and it's Human Leader. I maintain a very strict pecking order in my Pack, meeting, feeding and petting My Male Sneakers first, then the Female Becca, then the Puppy. This is a natural way for our animals to be. It pleases me very much, when I delve out treats, to see my Female and Puppy to patiently wait for My Male to be fed first.

Hang on, don't presume chauvinism, it just so happened that My Male Sneakers has tenure, and generally Males will tend to be Alpha. Yorkie Packs are much like Lion Packs, with the Females doing the work, while the males laze around.

IF there is no male Alpha, a Female Yorkie can run a Pack REAL good, and will if an existing Male isn't strong. In many instances, it's up to the Pack Leader (human), to support "whoever" is the pack Alpha.
