Certainly you need to potty train him. Any changes do throw them off. They are creatures of habit. It takes months to potty train a small breed puppy. Being consistent is the best policy for dog training. Since he is young you need to know that it is going to be a while before he can even control his bladder and bowel functions. He can't be allowed to wander far from his potty or he will have accidents. It's just how puppies are made.
Do you have an X-pen for him for when you can't watch him?
