If everything structurally is sound, I'd recommend you switch her food asap. Some dogs' anal gland problems come straight from the fact that the food they're eating is irritating their GI system, resulting in irritated and full anal glands. I know you say you want to stick w/ Nutro, but if another type of food/protein source/carb source etc would solve the problem, it's worth giving up that food.
Our vet did not mention that her food could be upsetting her GI system. I am going to look into that. I was under the impression it was normal for them to have this. When I do KS, it's not a whole lot...usually no more than 1/8 of a teaspoon I'd say. Is that normal? We will be going to a new vet now that we have moved and I will ask there too. Our vet in PA was a good vet, but sometimes I wondered if I should seek a second opinion just in case.
