Sally, I am so sorry to hear about Andy! I hope everything goes okay. Six weeks is a long time for recovery, and to keep a frisky boy off his Daddy...
I don't know how to protect for that long, but I do think maybe one of those breakfast trays...to build a solid 'tent' over his mid-section. On a couch or chair, here we have these little tables you can scoot the base under the furniture and the little table covers your lap. Like has been mentioned, I use foil to protect stuff from the kitties, too.
Please give Andy my best for a easy time of it and a speedy recovery...and give Harry bunches of kisses...the HUGS are for you...you are going to have your hands full taming the York!
