I tried puppy litter at one time with my last yorkie. I bought a couple of the trays (so I could scrub one while still using one). And I used the paper pellets. I couldn't stand the SMELL of of the wet pellets. It was horrible.
So I went back to the pads. I did put the pads in the trays though, so they were more contained...no accidently peeing on the edge & it getting the floor underneath.
I just use pads with ZoE. She's much bigger than my last yorkie, so the trays seem too small for her, plus she really likes to sniff & circle around to find the right spot, so she likes a bigger potty area, made up of a couple of pads layed next to each other.
