My friend was looking to adopt a yorkie from a rescue and I noticed that a lot of them were 8-9 pounds but they keep telling me she needs to be less than 7. She walks at least 2 miles a day (not including running around the yard, house, up and down the stairs) and we feed her maybe a total of .5 cup of food a day (split in 2 servings). Hardly ever any treats (and only holistic) but she just cannot lose weight. |
Awwww Man!!
If her ribs are easily felt, then she is fine. I don't know why the Vet would say that....??

It is when you can't feel their ribs and you have to dig in a little, when they are overweight.
They may be telling you that only because AKC Stardard for a Yorkie is 4 - 7 pounds... But there are many more that are bigger as well as smaller.
My Riley is about 8 - 9 pounds, now at almost 3-years old.
He'll be 3 in May. His Daddy was 4lbs and His Mommy was 8lbs.
She Is Too Cute For Words!!!!
