We feed (dry food)California Natural Grain Free Chicken Meal. We live in the USA. We have 2 other dogs one large one small. No treats except for apples carrots bananas. Just don't trust anything anymore. Due to the mange she has to receive medicated baths almost daily since she was covered in green pustules. Now that that is all resolved she still stinks. If she is in your lap and gets up you can smell it on you clothes. It is not from her anal glands it is her entire body! Just was wondering if this is a breed thing? Gave her an Aveeno oatmeal bath last night and smells horrid this morning. Poor little girl is happy and lively but stinks up the house! I am sensitive to perfumes so I done want to go the doggy perfume route. Any suggestions...sorry this is so long, just wanted to give her history. |
The two things you did not mention that are possibilities are the teeth and the ears. I know it seems unlikely that those areas could create such a smell but they can cause the rest of the body to stink as well. A dog that was in such bad shape as you describe could very well have some rotten teeth or gums. It is something that should be checked out. The ears are less likely but when they do get a fungus infection it is a horrid smell.
There is a product called Yorkie Splash and Shine that many people use here. It is all natural and many use the products weekly to bathe the dogs. It has a great all natural fragrance that usually lasts at least a week. If it is a skin issue that may help if you use it weekly. It does not dry the skin and is very conditioning. Does she have any red spots left behind or dry areas? There are some other all natural products out there but this is the one that has worked well for me.
